Keeping Appointments
Rarely a day will go by in college when you don’t have an appointment. It could be with one of your teachers, your advisor, a study group, a residence hall meeting, or many others. Missing an appointment could have dire consequences.
The most vital resource available to you for your appointment is in the palm of your hand. You carry it with you wherever you go, and get withdrawal symptoms when it’s not in hand. Yes…your cellphone — your window to the rest of the society, and the ultimate time management tool. Your phone has a clock with alarms, a calendar with reminders, agenda and to-do lists.
Also make sure you plan ahead. Leaving 10 minutes before a meeting that requires a 20 minute drive is no good. You can also use your phone to plan the route and determine how long your travel time will be.
Here’s a strategy for keeping appointments.
Step One: | Record the appointment time and place it in your cell phone as an alert the night before. That way you’ll be able to prepare yourself for the next day’s meeting |
Step Two: | Set an alert for the appointment one hour before the time of the appointment. This is so you don’t get distracted and forget. |
Step Three: | Record the actual time and place of the appointment in your cell phone. |
You may not think you need three reminders, but college students are noted for missing appointments..
