Applying Online
Just about every organization has a place on its website that lists career opportunities. For most organizations, there will be a place on the website labeled “Careers” or “Working for Us”.
When you click on the link, you will be asked to register. This includes some basic information about you. You will also be asked to submit your resume.
The website will typically include a drop down menu that lists different types of jobs. Generally these aren’t listed as majors, but functional areas within the business. You’ll have to identify those functional areas where you might contribute.
You will also be able to indicate locations where you might work. You can also identify whether you are interested in a permanent position or an internship/co-op.
Once you have identified the functional area, the location, and the type of job, the website will list the positions that are open. Often the position listings will describe duties of the job. You should click on the jobs you are interested in.
Most companies won’t consider you for employment until you have registered online. There’s no cost to do this. Once you apply, it may take time to hear from the organization about your application. Generally you’ll only hear something when there is an interest in talking with you.
If you’re serious about an internship, you should register on several companies’ websites each week..
