Buying

Buying career paths involve purchasing goods and services needed by others.

Typical job titles for people who choose buying career paths include:

  • buyer
  • purchasing agent

Buying careers are generally available in all organizations.  In some cases, buyers purchase items that the public will in turn purchase.  In other cases, buyers purchase items to be used by the organization itself.

There are few specialized courses of study that lead directly to buying careers; however, there are many general educational programs that prepare a person for a buying career.

People in buying careers need to be able to:

  • negotiate
  • use information resources
  • make decisions

Testimonials

  • This semester I have made many improvements; one major improvement is keeping track of my assignments on a white board I keep on my wall.  When I get home from class I fill out the assignments I received for that day and do as many of them as I can.  This is very helpful because I don't fall behind on my assignments, and I keep up with homework.  Another improvement is going to my classes.  Before this semester I was lazy and missed far too many classes.  By simply going to my classes, my grades have changed greatly.  I know when homework assignments are due, exam times, and I kmow so much more of the information we learn..
